Manny needs your help!
UPDATE: 2/17/2012: Neurology Appointment is Scheduled.
Manny has a vet appointment with the specialist next Wed, 2/22/12 in
Philadelphia. We hope to get the MRI done right after the appointment.
We need to raise $1,000, by next Wednesday. Please cross post and share
this page with others. Need more info about Manny? please e-mail us at
rescue@ecmcr.org
UPDATE: 2/13/2012 We have raised half the money for Mannys test.
We raised over $800.00 at the Super Pet Expo just this last weekend and
some other donations have come in for him. We want to schedule his MRI
for the end of the month and hope to raise the remaining money by then.
Please share and cross post where ever you can.
Manny is doing OK but still cannot stand on his leg for more that a few
seconds before he falls to the ground. He is such a sweet boy and really
loves his foster mommy. No pressure can be put on his back legs so she
has to be very careful during his cuddling sessions.
A great BIG thank you to everyone who has already donated, shared and
cross posted Mannys story!
UPDATE: 2/07/2012 Manny went to the vet today.
The Vet thinks that as the steroids have had no effect on Manny's recovery,
he MIGHT have a spinal injury and therefore recommends an MRI + blood
work, which are estimated to cost well over $2,000.00. Manny seems to
be feeling a bit better on the steroids, but without the MRI, we might
never know exactly what is wrong with him. If we don't know what's wrong,
we can't heal him.
Please help us raise money to get Manny the tests he desperately needs.
His owners didn't care about him one bit, and just dumped him off at the
shelter in severe distress. He deserves better. Please click on our chip
in link below to help ECMCR get Manny his much needed tests.
02/03/2012: Poor Manny is a gorgeous young Maine Coonie mix boy
of almost 2. He was just pulled into ECMCR from a shelter where he was
suffering from an untreated leg injury, which affected his ability to
walk. Even in severe distress, this sweet boy remained affectionate with
shelter staff who fell in love with him. Upon pulling him from the shelter,
Manny's Foster mom took him to the vet to have X-rays, and, although nothing
is broken or fractured, the vet thinks Manny is suffering from an inflammation
of the nerves in his leg.
He is being treated with steroids, which will hopefully make him feel
fine and dandy shortly, so that he can play and run about like a typical
young coonie boy! The cost of the X-rays and the steroid treatment (along
with pain meds. And sedation for him to be x-rayed as he was in agony
upon arriving at the vet) total $500. There will be future diagnostics
should the steroids not help. Our rescue is therefore asking for help
to cover sweet Manny's vet bills and any future diagnostics costs ...
Please help this great coonie boy if you can by donating on our Chip-In
link. Manny and ECMCR thank you in advance and are very grateful for any
donations!
